Criterion:
3.c At the point of verification, measured or default values shall be provided for the major steps in the biofuel production chain.

Guidelines:
The RSB will develop criteria for the quality of acceptable default values and measurements, and work with other institutions to develop default values for typical supply chains in different regions to help small producers comply with this criterion.
RSB will prepare a set as extensive as possible of default values for:
On-farm/forest elements (to farm/forest gate)
a. Energy use of farm machinery use?
b. Energy content for delivery of irrigation water?
c. Energy content of fertilizers?
d. Lime: CO2 emissions from lime stone (CaCO3) to lime (CaO) in fields for stabilizing soil acidity?
e. Energy use of pesticides?
f. Nitrous oxide production on farm?
g. Nitrous oxide production off farm (downstream)?
h. Energy use for preparing seeds?
i. Maintenance burning?
Transportation to processing plant
Processing energy + associated emissions including waste products
Processing Plant to Distribution
