Natural gas supplies from Russia are extremely vulnerable and Georgia has occasionally had its supplies cut off from that country for political reasons.

- 18 July 2006 Vano Mtvralashvili: Biodiesel To Contribute To Georgian Agriculture. According to the Chairman of the Georgian Union of Oil Products biodiesel from rapeseed could be a major contributor to the economic future of the country due to the worldwide rise in oil prices.
