- Crude oil (and petroleum byproducts such as gasoline) is usually expressed in terms of barrels (abbreviated "bbl").
- Ethanol is often measured in tons. One ton of ethanol is equivalent to XX gallons (XX barrels).(Research needed)
- One liter of ethanol contains 66% of the energy content (typically expressed as British Thermal Units, or BTUs as one liter of gasoline, which means that cars that use ethanol require one third more fuel by volume to travel the same distance.[2]
