The International Biofuels Forum (IBF) is an international initiative for information sharing and other efforts linking key biofuels countries (and the EC), bringing together key producers and consumers of biofuels to support the international trading of biofuels as a commodity.

Official announcements

  • Press Conference Launching International Biofuels Forum - This press release from the United Nations Department of Public Information announcing the IBF on 2 March 2007 stated that "Today’s launch of the International Biofuels Forum would contribute to creating a world market for alternative fuels, resulting in economic, social and environmental benefits for developed and developing countries alike" and that the Forum "would initially be established for one year and meet regularly to discuss ways to promote the sustained use and production of biofuels around the globe."
    • The press release quoted Elsa du Toit, Director for Energy Efficiency of the Department of Minerals and Energy of South Africa as saying, “We want to ensure that previously disadvantaged people and people in rural communities will be close to where the biofuels initiative will take place, and they will receive the benefits of this initiative.”[1]
