Ecological footprint

The ecological footprint is an indicator of the overall life-cycle environmental impact of a product or activity.
- Note that while a "carbon footprint" summarizes the overall carbon dioxide emissions associated with something, the ecological footprint expresses the total environmental impact in terms of a typical area of land that would be required to support the product or activity.
